Renesas now offers an online learning at Renesas Interactive.

After free registration you can gain an access to different courses available. You can choose courses related to all microcontroller families and the evaluation tools:

  • R8C Tiny
  • H8 Super Low Power
  • H8/300H Tiny
  • M16C
  • H8S/H8SX
  • SuperH

For example, multimedia courses related to the R8C Tiny family:

R8C Family Overview (40 min)
This module describes the main features of R8C series
R8C Product Overview (36 min)
Details the main devices & features of R8C series
R8C CPU Architecture (30 min)
Explains the main features of the R8C Core
R8C Peripherals – Part 1 (42 min)
Explores the R8C timers, Power-on Reset (POR) and Low-Voltage Detect (LVD)
R8C Peripherals – Part 2 (32 min)
Covers operation of Flash, SIO, I/O Ports, ADC and low-power modes

are available together with a VirtuaLabs:

R8C/11 with FoUSB
This Virtual Lab uses the R8C/11 evaluation board and the FoUSB Debugger
R8C/13 with FoUSB
This Virtual Lab uses the R8C/13 evaluation board and the FoUSB Debugger

During VirtuaLAb you have an access to real devices. For example if you choose the R8C/13 with FoUSB you’ll use the Renesas SKP8CMINI-13 Starter Kit to evaluate the R8C/13 Microcontroller and Starter Kit development environment.

Through the VirtuaLab and Tutorial:

  • You’ll have access to the target controls
  • Program the R8C flash microcontroller
  • Create and build a project
  • Download and run code on the target
  • Use some of the basic debugger features
  • Revise, re-build and re-load the project
  • Afrer completing courses you have a chance to check your work. The R8C Certification Test, for instance, gives you a random series of 31 questions about the R8C family.

In my opinion, the most interesting courses are the recent ones about using the High-performance Embedded Workshop (HEW):

    HEW Overview (20 Minutes)
This training course provides an overview of the High-performance Embedded Workshop (HEW), a key tool for developing software for embedded systems that use microcontrollers (MCUs) from Renesas Technology Corp.

    Installation & Administration (15 Minutes)
This training course provides an overview of the installation and administration aspects of the High-performance Embedded Workshop (HEW).

    Quick HEW Demonstration (15 Minutes)
This course gives you a quick tour of the HEW graphical user interface, taking you through the steps of starting an embedded programming project, editing and compiling code, and then running a simulation to debug the code.

    Project Generation (40 Minutes)
This course first describes the Project Generator functions and then shows how to use them to set up a workspace and begin developing code, all in a matter of minutes. Program flow and basic file structures are also explained.

    Editing & Compiling (30 Minutes)
This course explains ways of manipulating files within a Project Workspace and describes the process of compiling files using the HEW Compiler. It covers the Build process and highlights some of the advanced functions HEW provides.

Bad Behavior has blocked 57 access attempts in the last 7 days.
